The consultation on a possible second exit from the Recreation Ground will be one of the main topics of this year’s Annual Parish Meeting (APM) to be held on Monday 15 April 2018 at 7pm in the Parish Hall.
Rowlands Castle Parish Council has appointed a Working Group to look into the feasibility of such an exit, which would be for use only by pedestrians and only in emergencies. Concern over crowd safety at the Annual Fireworks Display was the catalyst for this investigation. Current Health and Safety guidance requires such an exit as part of the provision of the site facilities for firework displays, even if spectator numbers at Rowlands Castle’s were restricted. The 2018 Display was limited to 2000 spectators on a ticket-only basis. This was a one-off arrangement with the Safety Advisory Group (co-ordinated by EHDC and including Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service), which urged the creation of a second exit in future. Having considered many aspects, the Working Group has come up with proposals for such an exit. For more information see: Working Party Statement re Future of Fireworks March 2019 and Working Party Statement re Future of Fireworks Feb 2019
Please come along to the APM to learn more about these proposals and have your say. There will be a short presentation from member(s) of the Working Group followed by an opportunity for residents to comment.
As well as the above, reps from the local Police Team will be outlining key issues and priorities and answering questions. There will also be updates from Rowlands Castle Parish Council and the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, along with reports from local councillors and organisations.
A full copy of the Agenda has been published on noticeboards around the Parish, and on this page: Annual Parish Meetings
Everyone’s welcome at the APM and there will be refreshments in the break. We would like to see and hear from as many of you as possible. If you can’t get there for the start of the meeting, don’t worry you can join at any stage and it won’t be a late night.
