Vacancy for a Clerk to the Council/Responsible Financial Officer (RFO)
Applications are invited for the post of Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) to Rowlands Castle Parish Council.
- Hours: 30 hours per week, though some degree of flexibility of hours can be considered for the successful candidate;
- Location: The post is based in the Parish Office at 11 The Green, Rowlands Castle (above Home Hardware) but with some opportunity to work from home by agreement;
- Salary: £30,900 for 30-hour week.
Rowlands Castle is a medium-sized Parish in south-east Hampshire with 9 councillors and an electorate of c 2,600. The Council generally meets on the first Monday of every month, though this can vary depending on public holidays, and has a recess during the month of August.
Duties: These are varied and include responsibility for the administration of the Council’s business, including guidance and advice on governance, ethics and procedures. They will also include management of and responsibility for the Council’s finances, management of staff, and communication and liaison with the public and other organisations and elected representatives.
What we seek: A Clerk with excellent administrative and management skills who is IT literate and has strong communication skills and will enjoy acting as a focus for the work of the Council in the community. In particular, the Clerk will have legal responsibility for the management of the Council’s finances and other aspects of its work and must be able to work independently within the Council’s structures.
