Hampshire County Council (HCC) is rolling out superfast broadband across the region. It enables people to get internet speeds of 24 megabits per second or more – making streaming TV, working from home, online banking and shopping, and gaming a lot easier – to name just some of the benefits.
Currently it’s available to 95% of the region, and that number is on target to reach 97.4% by the end of 2019. However, many people don’t know whether they can get superfast broadband or not, or believe it is more expensive than their current package – which is not always the case.
HCC’s role is to provide the infrastructure to enable as many people as possible to access superfast broadband, not to sell the service. HCC has a postcode checker that will tell you if its available where you live, and what to do next if you want to find the right package for you. You can also register with HCC to be told when superfast broadband is coming to your area.
